Common questions
A result looks wrong. What should I do?
Email us the product name and, if you can, the photo you scanned. Analysis quality depends heavily on how legible the ingredient list is in the photo, so a blurry or angled shot is the most common cause. Reports of genuinely wrong verdicts help us improve the analysis, so please do send them.
The barcode wasn't recognised.
Barcode lookups use a public product database that doesn't cover every product in every country, and some entries have no ingredient list attached. When that happens, use Scan Ingredients instead and photograph the ingredient list on the back or side of the pack.
How do I get a good scan?
- Photograph the ingredient list — not the front of the pack, and not the barcode.
- Fill the frame with the text and hold the phone parallel to the label.
- Use good light and avoid glare from plastic wrapping.
I ran out of free scans.
Every install comes with 30 free scans, and leaving a review earns 10 more (Profile → Earn 10 free scans). Beyond that, PRO removes the limit and starts with a 7-day free trial.
How do I restore a purchase?
Open the PRO screen in the app and tap Restore Purchase. This looks for a subscription linked to your Apple ID and re-applies it — useful after reinstalling or moving to a new device.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are billed by Apple, so cancellation happens there: iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Halal Scanner → Cancel Subscription. Cancelling stops the next renewal; PRO stays active until the end of the paid period.
How do I change the app language?
Profile → Select Language. The app restarts to apply the change. Arabic, Urdu, and Pashto switch the interface to a right-to-left layout.
How do I delete my scan history?
Your history lives on your device. Swipe or long-press a product on the home screen to delete it, or use the selection mode to remove several at once. Deleting the app removes all of it.
A note on accuracy
Halal Scanner is a research assistant, not a certification body. It reads the label you show it and explains what each ingredient usually is. It cannot see hidden processing aids, shared production lines, or which source a manufacturer used in a particular batch. For anything you must be certain about, look for a recognised halal certification mark on the pack or contact the manufacturer.
